Sunshine Coast Chamber Music Festival Fringe
Beats and Loops
A Sunshine Coast Chamber Music Festival Fringe event, Beats + Loops highlights Australia’s experimental new music scene, exploring the fun space between a sit-down concert and a club gig.
Expect exciting, adventurous and thought-provoking, punchy live-music sets presented by our festival artists who like to go rogue in the urban vibe of Sunshine Coast’s favourite live music venue, the SOL BAR.
Caleb Colledge - composer, percussionist, producer and co-owner of Music Made Now records, will present a solo set of new experimental works for drums and looping. His music fuses acoustic, electronica and found sounds.
Ronnie J. Smith - a Yamatji, Whadjuk singer-songwriter and guitarist will be joined by Eric Avery - a Ngiyampaa, Yuin, Bandjalang and Gumbangirr violinist and songman to present a collection of their originals and re-imagined covers of their favourite contemporary artists.
Sarah Curro, a Melbourne Symphony Orchestra violinist, who has recorded for and toured with Katie Noonan, Bush Gothic, Flight Facilities, Jeff Mills and Derek May, Shaun Keyt (Viridian), Alpine, Tim Minchin, The Vaudeville Smash, and Paper Kites, plays her solo set VOLUME - new works played on her custom SPUR Violin. The dynamic amplified solo violin show has amazed Melbourne audiences for over a decade with pop artists writing classical style, classical composers breaking out the effects pedals – all rules are broken in VOLUME.
